To be eligible to compete, each athlete must have been born in Hampshire or resident in the county for 9 months prior to the race. Prizes are awarded for the overall winner, male and female, and to the winners in age bands for veteran/masters runners (where there are sufficient numbers competing in the band for the organiser to select from).
In earlier years Hampshire Athletics (formerly HAA) held Championship races at each major set distance. This was gradually transformed to certified Best Performance times accross all officially recognised races at set distances. This idea has been shelved from 2014 due to insufficient times submitted.

* Note: It was decided by the Hampshire Road Race Committee that all distance titles for 2013 would be awarded to the best performances of athletes in any officially recognised race of the major set distances.
